March Newsletter

First of all, many congratulations to our junior team of Jack, George, Maisie and Tabitha who recently won the Fallows Cup in a match vs Market Bosworth at the Leicestershire Tennis Club. The club last won the cup in 1991, so we have had to wait a long time!

Message from the Treasurer – Finance Sub-Committee
We are forming a small Finance sub-committee and would like to invite volunteers from our general membership to get involved.
The main purpose of this sub-committee will be to ensure that the club maintains accurate financial forecasting / reserves to enable court resurfacing to take place when necessary and to determine where and how much money can be spent on clubhouse / grounds improvements, after taking into account court resurfacing sinking fund and normal maintenance.
Volunteering would involve no more than 2 or 3 short meetings per year and if you are a helper member, time taken can count towards helper hours.
If you are interested in getting involved, we would love to hear from you – please email  and we will get back to you.
Pip Braint

Just a reminder that we need entries by 10am, Saturday 26th March, please.
The tournament is open to all senior members (including daytime) and Invited juniors (who will have been contacted by George).

Full details were in our earlier email but if you have any questions, please contact Niall if any questions on 07955 361 525 or

     Oadby Pre Season Tournament
Saturday 2nd – Saturday 9th April 2022

Advanced notice that during the OST (2nd – 9th April) some courts will be in use on Saturdays from 10am, on Sunday from 10am and in the evenings (Monday- Thursday) from 6pm. Please check Clubspark throughout as we will make/adjust bookings depending on entries and scheduling. We will probably not be able to allocate courts for Monday/Wednesday mix ins during this week unfortunately – although final decisions will be made when we have all tournament entries.

During the Easter holidays, Ben will be running summer camps on 4 courts on 11th, 13th and 15th April from 9am-3pm. There is no junior coaching that week so all courts are free at 4pm for late afternoon booking. In addition, on Friday evenings all courts will be free on both 15th and 22nd April.

We have recently had problems with the money boxes on courts 4,5 and 6 unfortunately with ‘COLL’ often showing even though the boxes have only just been emptied. If this happens, please continue to put money in the box if it will accept it, then override the lights. (If the box won’t accept money then please put the fee in the visitors’ box).

With lighter evenings, we will soon not require floodlights for fixed fours at 6pm, fortunately.

We have recently been asked by several members about bringing visitors to the club. This is allowed on 3 occasions in a calendar year with a £3 payment due each time, please.  Payments should be put into the box in the corridor to the changing rooms.

Lastly, many thanks  to everyone who donated items to our recent Ukraine appeal, coordinated by club member Ian Watt in conjunction with his Ukrainian neighbour.

Best wishes
