Leicestershire and Rutland Family History Society
The Leicestershire & Rutland Family History Society, a long established (1974) friendly society of members with the specific aim of supporting the family historians who wishes to research the surrounding area family history.
We offer access to databases of names and places collected from a variety of sources including, parish records, census returns, electoral registers, local newspapers, military lists, non-conformist sources, maps and wills, etc.
There are regular meetings held in Leicester, Rutland, Loughborough, Hinckley and Market Harborough.
Most meetings have a speaker talking about an aspect of family history although we do have occasional themed meetings where members are invited to talk on a subject from their own family history research. For more information click here
The Leicester French Circle, founded in 1899, is an Anglo-French Society welcoming everyone interested in France and the French language. Evening meetings usually take the form of a presentation, in French, on a wide variety of interesting topics. The Leicester French Circle is affiliated to the Alliance Française de Londres, a charity whose aim is the diffusion of the French language and culture, and that supports French Circles around Britain.
