I am sorry to bring you sad news about the passing of one of our club members.  Marjorie Braint.

Marjorie was in fact our longest serving member who created a legacy that past, current and future members benefit from and her contribution to our Oadby Tennis Club is remembered below:

Marjorie joined the club initially in the 1950’s and after a brief period away from Leicester, rejoined in 1962 and had been a member ever since.

Together with her husband Roger, Marjorie was heavily involved in the day to day life of the club over a period of some 50 years, including countless hours of volunteering at social events aimed at raising necessary funds to enable the purchase of the land, building the clubhouse and installing floodlights.

They gave their own money to support certain activities and were made Life Members in 1982.  In later years, after Marjorie no longer played tennis, she and Roger continued to support the club and in particular enjoyed watching and supporting the various teams and the annual club tournament

Their children, Caroline, Wendy (deceased) and John have all been members at one time, and John is still one of our most active (and now longest serving) members.
